Andrew Cochran at the Counterterrorism Blog reports that Treasury's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, the remarkable Stuart Levey, is being asked to stay on as Interim Acting Secretary of the Treasury. A agree with Cochran that he is "the single most effective and important civilian official in the effort to detect, halt, and prevent terrorist financing," though I was also a great admirer of Rick Newcomb, who pioneered this work earlier as the head of the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Obama's decision on Levey should be applauded.
