Associated Press is reporting that Clinton’s Senate foreign policy adviser, Andrew Shapiro, will play a leading role in the State Department as will Lee Feinstein, who was her national security adviser during the campaign.
The Washington Post earlier reported that part of Clinton’s agreement with Obama is that she will be free to staff the Department. Another source says this would be inconsistent, because other Cabinet appointees have been told that the White House will have a role in their staffing at all levels. “It is more likely to be the usual tug of war.”
