Sam, this idea of three terror attacks in the last month, what do you make of it?

I think this is the new normal, a point I’ve made several times on this show, as France knows, as Germany knows, as America knows. We’re seeing increased numbers of these low-tech attacks. There’s nothing, it seems, that the security services and police can truly do to identify and stop these things before they happen. We’re facing decades of this problem.

For too long in Europe, the government has worked with nonviolent Islamists as a sort of bulwark against violent Islamists. This hasn’t worked. It’s been disastrous, in fact.
