Governor Jay Robert Inslee of Washington spoke at an event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that was organized by the state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity.
Inslee spoke for CAIR’s Muslim Lobby Day, where the group focused on three issues: Limiting usage of drones, funding low-income housing and passing the DREAM Act to grant financial aid for students without immigration documents. About 550 people attended the event.
CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism-financing trial; federal prosecutors labeled it as an entity of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee. The Committee was established in secret to advance the agenda of Hamas. The unindicted co-conspirator designation was upheld by a federal judge in 2009 because of “ample” evidence linking CAIR to Hamas.
According to CAIR’s press release, attendees from 35 of the state’s 49 districts attended and educated representatives about “Islamophobia.”
“They will provide information about recent anti-Muslim incidents and will urge their legislators to courageously speak out against Islamophobic rhetoric and hate crimes,” CAIR said.
CAIR and similar Islamist organizations slander their critics as “Islamophobes” in an attempt to discredit them. Moderate Muslims decry how Islamists use this term as a political weapon.
Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, a former member of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood, said he was present in the 1990s when a Brotherhood front decided to use the term for political purposes.
“This loathsome term is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche conceived in the bowels of Muslim think tanks for the purpose of beating down critics,” says Muhammad.
In the summer of 2013, CAIR-WA waged a successful campaign to have ads posted by the U.S. government on buses removed that promoted a $25 million award for information leading to the neutralization of 16 top terrorists. CAIR said that the ads were offensive since all terrorists are Muslim and mobilized its non-Muslim political allies to have the ads taken down.
In December 2008, CAIR-WA director Arsalan Bukhari told a mosque audience that they should not talk to the FBI because of its alleged persecution of Muslims.
“There’s nothing to gain from talking to law enforcement,” Bukhari said.
Governor Inslee’s legitimizing of CAIR comes shortly after Governor Quinn of Illinois addressed a major Islamist conference. These Islamist organizations use these opportunities to bolster their stature and present themselves as the voice of the Muslim-American community.
Governors Inslee and Quinn and other government officials court these CAIR chapters even as the FBI’s official policy is to shun CAIR as an outreach partner.
