Writer and JihadWatch blogger Robert Spencer claimed he was poisoned during his visit to Iceland, and a medical report shows there was MDMA and amphetamine in his system.
DV were first to publish the medical report itself, in the wake of Robert Spencer’s claims about a recent incident at a restaurant. At the restaurant, Spencer said, an Icelander approached, shook his hand, and said “Fuck you.” Spencer then left the scene. Shortly thereafter, he reportedly felt numbness in his extremities and vomited before going to the hospital.
As can be seen, the medical report confirms that there was indeed MDMA and amphetamine in Spencer’s system. The report notes that his symptoms were “consistent with a panic attack” and that there were “no signs of serious poisoning”.
Spencer also reportedly went to the police, and claims he was able to identify the alleged perpetrator and find him on Facebook, although he does not go so far as to out the individual in question. No arrests have yet been reported to have been made in connection with this incident.
As reported, Spencer is the man behind the Islamophobic blog JihadWatch and the co-founder of Stop Islamization of America. The Southern Law Poverty Center has identified Spencer as a purveyor of hate speech and racism. The writings of Spencer were also greatly admired by Norwegian terrorist Anders Breivik.
In fact, Spencer was denied entry to the UK in 2013, on the grounds that his presence “is not conducive to the public good”, as the Home Office put it, adding “We condemn all those whose behaviours and views run counter to our shared values and will not stand for extremism in any form.”
In response, a protest demonstration was organised at Grand Hótel, where Spencer gave a talk last week. The protest mostly went by without incident, although a Grapevine correspondent was reportedly threatened by security.
