There was tension in the Good Morning Britain studio today during a heated ‘ban the burka’ debate.
Rachel Johnson argued that her brother Boris, who compared women in burkas to ‘bank robbers’ and ‘letter boxes’, should have gone further and called for a full ban.
But Sahar Al-Faifi, who wears a full face veil, hit back by insisting it is her choice and she found it “patronising” to be lectured.
However, the most controversial point in the debate came when Piers Morgan asked Sahar if she would take off her burka in the studio.
Surprised by his request, Sahar replied: “No, there’s no need. I would have a problem with that.”
