Ofsted’s chief inspector has been the subject of anti-Semitic abuse after publicly supporting England’s best primary school, which is at the centre of a row over banning the hijab and fasting for young children.
Amanda Spielman was targeted by online trolls who put three sets of brackets around her name, a practice used to single out Jewish names, although Spielman’s religious background is unknown.
Last week, it was revealed that St Stephen’s head teacher, Neena Lall, had been portrayed as Hitler in a video attacking the school.
The abuse comes as Ofsted, which did an emergency inspection of the school in Newham, east London, last week, is expected to confirm its “outstanding” status.
