New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has said he would be in close watch of Muslims while he saw no sign of Islamophobia in New York.
Kelly visited Eyup Sultan Mosque in New York‘s Brooklyn on Monday to attend the iftar (fast breaking meal) given by Muslim Officers Society New York Police Department.
Upon a question about Islamophobia, Kelly said there might be Islamophobia but it was hard to talk a certain situation about it in New York as everybody got on well with each other.
However Kelly added that the US would continue its counter-terrorism program through which they allegedly revealed 16 terror-affiliated incidents since 9/11 attacks.
New York is the potential target of such events, therefore the program will be maintained for a while, said Kelly.
