No plans to build mosques in every Moscow district - source

The Moscow authorities do not plan to build mosques in every administrative district of the capital, a city administration source told Interfax on Tuesday.

“Such decisions have not been adopted. Consequently, instructions to build mosques were not given to every Moscow prefecture,” the source said.

Media reports earlier quoted a spokesman for the Russian Council of Muftis as saying that the Moscow authorities allegedly permitted the construction of mosques in every administrative district of the city.

According to these reports, mosques should appear in every prefecture before 2015.

“Several administrative issues remain, but all problems will be sorted out before the end of the year,” the reports said.
