Islamic Relief UK director Imran Madden on ‘leave of absence’ amid leadership probe

The UK director of Islamic Relief has taken a temporary leave of absence amid a disciplinary probe at the Birmingham-based charity.

Imran Madden has stepped away from his high-profile post “until further notice”, the humanitarian organisation said on Monday.

The chief executive officer of Islamic Relief Worldwide, Naser Haghamed, is fulfilling his responsibilities in the meantime.

Mr Madden faces allegations over his leadership style, including claims that it is “intimidating, insensitive and aggressive”, according to one source.

However he is believed to have raised his own counter-claims against Mr Haghamed, alleging that the chief executive has treated him unjustly, criticised his work without reason and “lost his temper” in a meeting relating to the concerns on May 11 this year.
