Italian Lower House Speaker Laura Boldrini on Friday called for “no violence in the name of God” during an event against terrorism organized at the grand mosque in Rome by Italy’s Islamic cultural center.
“ISIS isn’t just a threat for the West, it is a threat for the whole world, but mostly for the Muslim world”, said the House speaker, stressing that the main targets of Islamic terror are “Muslim civilians”.
Islamic civilians are hurt “in their souls” because they are used as justification for violence in the name of Islam, she said.
“Millions of people are thrown into disgrace and their life becomes difficult”, she continued.
Propaganda aimed at Muslim communities “puts many people in a corner” said Boldrini. “It is an expropriation you should not allow. You must say no to all this”.
Addressing the Muslim community in Rome, MPs and ambassadors attending the event, Boldrini expressed solidarity and empathy for all the families of “victims of religious extremism who have not made it back home”, also commemorating reporters and aid workers who were targeted by ISIS.
