West Yorkshire Police and the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner have donated to a charity taking action against violence against women.

The money - £1,000 - has been donated to Islamic Relief UK to support its Honour Her campaign, taking action against all forms of violence and abuse against women and girls.

Chief Constable Dee Collins said: “The work of the charity is crucial to our local response and decided to make a donation.

“The money comes out of the Police Property Act Fund, which is used for various charitable causes.

“We hope it will go some way to educating people and preventing the crimes.
