Poland is in favour of Turkey joining the European Union, President Andrzej Duda said on Tuesday after talks with his Turkish counterpart in Warsaw.

"I hope that the paths of Turkey and the EU will continue in the same direction, and that the result of this... will eventually be Turkey's membership, full membership, of the European Union," Duda said after meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Duda added that Erdogan's one-day trip to Warsaw was "an important visit, related to political cooperation between Poland and Turkey, also related to a huge degree to economic cooperation between Poland and Turkey."
