Rotherham Council has been branded "not fit for purpose" after a damning report found it had failed to prevent the sexual exploitation of more than 1,400 girls by groups of Asian men for 16-years.
An independent report commissioned in the wake of last year's shocking revelations, concluded that the Labour run council had a culture of "bullying, sexism, suppression and misplaced political correctness".
In her findings, the report author, Louise Casey, said she had found "past and present failures to accept, understand and combat the issue of child sexual exploitation (CSE), resulting in a lack of support for victims and insufficient action against known perpetrators".
