A former Birmingham City Council education manager has claimed he witnessed a dirty tricks campaign to oust a city headteacher more than ten years ago.

Phil Astle, 60, says he recognised tactics highlighted in the Trojan Horse document from his time mediating in a dispute at Washwood Heath Technology College.

Headteacher Jim Collins had reportedly faced an unfounded allegation from Muslim governors in 2001. He later quit because, inspectors said, his relationship with governors had become 'untenable'.
