My sculpture, "Aisha from behind the veil," has been sold to a private buyer who very quickly bought the artwork even after it was removed from the Glass Artist Gallery because of potential negative ramifications.
After 32 years of being involved in various ways with the Glass Artist Gallery in Sydney, Maureen Cahill, the gallery director and one of my dearest friends and mentors since I was a student at Sydney College of the Arts, has notified me that I can no longer sell my personal work, my exploration of the Islamic ideology, via the Glass Artist Gallery because of realistic fears about the dangers that their sale would place the Gallery in.
The Gallery is not situated in a suitable location or building that would enable it to withstand any form of protest or attack on any level, either by verbal intimidation or violent act by the extreme Left or Muslims of the extreme type.
