Rotherham child sex abuse allowed to carry on despite three previous reports into it
Police and Rotherham Council criticised for failing to act on the findings of three reports over the past 12 years which highlighted the problem of child sexual exploitation
Child sexual exploitation in Rotherham was allowed to carry on almost unchecked for 16 years despite three previous reports which identified the problem.
In 2002 a Home Office report into child sex abuse contained "severe criticisms" of the police and local council for their "indifference" to what was happening under their noses.
It presented a clear picture of a "high prevalence of young women being coerced and abused through prostitution".
