Portland Public Schools is adding another language immersion program next year - Arabic.
The program will begin this fall with a kindergarten class, where kids will spent half the day learning in Arabic and the other half learning in English. Kids who live in the PPS district and turn 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2018 are eligible to apply.
Other immersion programs offered at PPS are Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Russian and Vietnamese.
PPS officials will hold several informational meetings about the immersion programs this month.
