Perspective about Hysteria [incl. Yale University Press]

Ramesh, I do agree with you, but to point out one additional element of hypocrisy in Fareed Zakaria’s warnings about hysteria:

In his position as a member of the Yale Corporation (the governing body of Yale University), Fareed spoke about the need for pre-emptive censorship of a Yale University Press book in order to undercut the possibility of future terrorists find cause to target Yale. He took this position after writing, in a Newsweek cover essay about radical Islam, that “We should mount a spirited defense of our views and values.”

Indeed, when it comes to hysteria, it seems that Mr. Zakaria too is the pot calling the kettle black.

Mr. Rubin has also contributed to military education, teaching U.S. Navy and Marine units about regional conflicts and terrorism. His scholarly work includes several key publications, such as “Dancing with the Devil” and “Eternal Iran.” Rubin earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in history and a B.S. in biology from Yale University.
