Local Schools Getting Arabic Studies Grant

Two local schools are getting a federal grant for arabic language and cultural classes.

The U.S. Department of Education is giving Cholla Magnet High School and Safford Magnet Middle School $58-thousand dollars.

Cholla has 60 students in its arabic program now and 20 are on a waiting list.

That school plans to use the money to offer more classes.

Safford will use the funds to create a middle eastern studies class for sixth graders and to offer beginning and intermediate language classes.
