Democrats in Congress Roll Out Red Carpet for Anti-Semitic Islamist [on Omar Suleiman]

Once again, Democrats in Congress rolled out the red carpet for an anti-Semitic Islamist, this time inviting Omar Suleiman to give the invocation.

A supporter of terrorists and the anti-Semitic Boycott,Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement against Israel, Suleiman falls into the same camp as sharia activists Linda Sarsour and the Council on American-Islamic RelationsZahra Billoo, who were both ecstatic over who Congress chose to deliver the invocation.

Suleiman has a long history of supporting Hamas, praising terrorists, advocating for sharia theocracy — including defending its brutal hudud punishments. He pushed anti-Semitic tropes about how Israel controls U.S. foreign policy, calling Israel the 51st state of America.

Suleiman, who is the founder and president of the Irving, Texas-based Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research and has a large social media following, also has a history of making homophobic remarks and spouting attitudes about women at odds with feminism.

In fact, the views held by Suleiman and his followers — Islamist Muslims — are totally against the core values of the Democrat party.

The decision to give such an honor to Suleiman was criticized, among many others, by Muslim reformers including Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, who wrote, that Suleiman “represents the Islamist establishment.”

“This ‘scholar’ is not a moderate...,” Jasser said, adding, “It is absurd if not bigotry to think a man who holds these positions represents most American Muslims.”

The choice to have Suleiman represent American Muslims and the Islamic faith in Congress was also criticized by Clarion Project’s National Correspondent, Shireen Qudosi, who tweeted, “You mean the mansplaining Imam who doesn’t let a sister get a word and talked over me the entire time we were in an interview together?”

Opposition to Suleiman and the inappropriateness of his presence in such a respected political space has been largely drowned out in the media by op-ed campaigns of Muslim Brotherhood operatives, who are crying “recalls being at a group meeting in the early 1990s where they came up with the idea to use “Islamophobia” as a political weapon. “This loathsome term is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche conceived in the bowels of Muslim think tanks for the purpose of beating down critics,” he said.” target="_blank">Islamophobia!”

One such outlet, Middle East Eye, paraphrased Suleiman, writing “the articles springing up in quick succession over the past day and a half demonstrated that this was a coordinated smear campaign attempting to malign his work and force Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to denounce him.”

“It is clearly part of an attempt to erase Muslim leaders from public life and also to keep deflecting from the real anti-Semitism of the right,” Suleiman stated in the Middle East Eye piece.

Instead of addressing the real issues — namely his stated political and religious views, Suleiman blamed the outcry against his presence in Congress on a campaign waged by “creepy obscure right wing sites [designed] to flood the internet with vicious smears.”
