The ACLU has filed suit against Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy, a charter school in Minnesota that emphasizes Middle Eastern culture and language. The publicly funded Academy has been the subject of complaints and one investigation, resulting in an official mandate from the state’s Education Department to change some practices that seemed to encourage and promote religious exercise.
