Insidehighered.comreports today on the arrest of a San Diego State grad student for manufacturing methamphetamine in a campus lab, as well as the results of a Duke University experiment which gave free iPods to all incoming freshman. The latter sounds like a much better idea.

And speaking of bloggers, our old pal Mark LeVine is on his way to Casablanca. Judging from his comments over at History News Network, he’s there to look at the influence of the Zapatistas on Christian Heavy Metal, or something like that. Personally I prefer Rashid Taha. Oh, and Mark, I’ve been meaning to tell you. Jimi Hendrix served in the U.S. Army from October 31, 1961 to July 2, 1962. He was discharged after breaking his ankle on his 26th parachute jump. This does not mean that he “actually served his country in wartime.”
