In the aftermath of Islamist terrorism in Paris and San Bernardino, the Modern Language Association has condemned (wait for it) "Islamophobia."
In the [U.S.] there has been an upsurge in attacks upon and censorship and harassment of those who . . . teach about Islam. The MLA condemns . . . all violations of free speech and academic freedom . . . . We especially deplore the firings and intimidation of those teachers who aid in our understanding of Islam.
We await the MLA's condemnation of the intimidation and professional ostracism of professors who dissent from views enforced by organizations such as the MLA, MESA, et al., which dominate American higher education.
