School officials in Newton, Massachusetts, who recently gave a teaching job to Maryam Abu-Hasaballah—a cheerleader for the post-October 7 campaign to disrupt Jewish life on college campuses in the United States—do not have a monopoly on questionable hiring decisions.
For more than two years, school officials in the neighboring city of Boston have employed True-See Allah, who left his job as a community outreach director for Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden in early 2024. Allah left his job after Fox News reporter Kassy Akiva (then Dillon) documented anti-Semitic remarks he made during an interview with a leader of the local Nation of Islam (NOI) mosque.
In a 2016 interview with NOI minister Don Muhammad, Allah spoke of working at a retail store owned by “a Jewish guy that’s got short arms and deep pockets,” Akiva reported in June of 2023.

Another factor contributing to Allah’s departure from his post at District Attorney Hayden’s office was public expressions of support for Louis Farrakhan, an inveterate anti-white racist and anti-Semite who, according to the ADL, described white people as being “born with lie and murder in their nature” and has declared Jews the “enemies” of God. Such expressions of hostility didn’t stop Allah from describing Farrakhan as an “illustrious leader, teacher and guide,” “the embodiment of righteous conduct,” and “the undisputed champion of all humanity.” It took a while, but Allah left his post in the DA’s office in February of 2024.
Allah landed on his feet, however. According to his LinkedIn page, Allah has worked as a “Violence, Intervention, Prevention & Restorative Specialist” for Boston Public Schools (BPS) since June of 2024. A list of city employee salaries confirms his presence on the municipal payroll.
No one wants to discuss Allah’s presence on the city’s payroll or provide details about what he does at BPS. Emails sent to the Boston School Department, the School Committee, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and the Boston City Council have been ignored. In addition to working for Boston Public Schools, Allah served as a policy advisor for Linda Champion’s failed effort to oust Kevin Hayden as Suffolk County District Attorney. (Champion did not respond to a request for comment.)
BPS’s decision to hire Allah despite his hostile comments is—pardon the malapropism—the second second chance he has been accorded. In 2015, the Massachusetts Governor’s Council voted 7–1 to approve a pardon recommended by Governor Deval Patrick for his role in a gang-related shooting in 1989 that left its victim paralyzed for several years before he died from his wounds.
Two Boston police superintendents, Daniel Linskey and Paul Joyce, and Daniel F. Conley, Hayden’s predecessor as Suffolk County district attorney, supported the campaign to pardon Allah. Allah told the Boston Globe he sought the pardon, which he received in 2015, to be eligible for a wider range of law enforcement jobs.
Allah has spent much of his adult life on the public payroll. Between 2013 and 2020, he was a prominent staffer in the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, leaving the agency after rising to assistant deputy superintendent. From 2020 to 2022, he worked at Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Public Safety and Security as director of re-entry, overseeing efforts to help former inmates adjust to life outside of prison.
From there, he went to the DA’s office and then to his current post with Boston Public Schools.
The upshot is this: True-See Allah, a man with a history of supporting Louis Farrakhan, one of America’s most inveterate racists and bigots, displayed extraordinary ingratitude toward the officials who lobbied for his pardon, and who himself has espoused anti-Semitic comments, is now working for Boston Public Schools (BPS) in a position that no one will describe. If Allah has repudiated his previous antisemitism and support for Farrakhan, no one is saying so.
This isn’t the first time BPS has had an extremist on the payroll. Nino Brown, a spokesperson for Kazi Toure, a leader of the Jericho Movement—a black racist organization which advocates for so-called “political prisoners,” with proud cop killers like Mumia Abu-Jamal leading the list—worked as a fifth-grade teacher in Dorchester a few years back.
Speaking on the steps of the Massachusetts Statehouse in July of 2020, Brown called for the dissolution of the United States and described Israel as a “parasitic” state. He led the crowd with chants of “Fuck your police state! America was never great!”
“We have to be clear, this social experiment called the United States of America has failed,” Brown said.
The spectacle prompted me to write at the time that Boston Public Schools had “a teacher on the payroll who hates the United States and Israel” and who moonlighted “as a spokesperson for a convicted terrorist who promotes the dissolution of the American republic.”
After negative coverage of his antics, Brown left Boston for Chicago, where he became active with the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a Marxist-Leninist party describing itself as working toward socialist revolution and the overthrow of capitalism.
No one in their right mind would hire an open supporter of the Ku Klux Klan to work in an educational setting, but school administrators in eastern Massachusetts have done essentially the same thing—numerous times—over the past few years. Newton school officials hired Maryam Abu-Hasaballah, who downplayed Hamas’s violence on October 7. And prior to that, BPS employed Nino Brown, who called for the dissolution of the U.S. republic. More recently, it hired True-See Allah, a man who lost his previous job in law enforcement after expressing contempt for a Jewish businessman and praising Louis Farrakhan, a notorious anti-Semite and black supremacist in his own right.
