Israel Must Defeat the New Front Against It Coming from New York

In a few days, the international community will officially join the violent rejectionist struggle against Jewish sovereignty in its ancestral and indigenous homeland.

On the 15th of May, The United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) will commemorate the “75th anniversary of the Nakba” at UN Headquarters in New York.

This is not just another United Nations Israel-bashing event, this event will describe the Jewish State’s founding as a catastrophe and mournfully commemorate it.

This is a major turnaround for the international community which at one point eagerly embraced the right of the Jewish People to reestablish their sovereignty.

Just over a century ago, the international community came together at San Remo to reassign territories in the wake of World War II. The basis of the decisions which emanated from this historic but often overlooked conference was on returning land on the basis of indigenous self-rule.

The will of the international community was expressed “in favour of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” which was then ratified in the Council of the League of Nations in 1922.

This ratification was later included in Article 80 of the newly formed United Nations’ Charter, once known unofficially as the Jewish People’s clause, which preserves intact all the rights granted to Jews under the Mandate for Palestine, even after the Mandate’s expiry on May 14-15, 1948.

Furthermore, in 1947 the UN, in a two-thirds majority agreed to the establishment of a Jewish State.

For the subsequent decades, countries and bodies within the UN have attempted to whittle down Israel’s rights.

Whether its rights to self-defense, the legal conquering of territory, its right to determine its capital city and administer holy sites or its right not to be swamped with the so-called “refugee” claims of millions of Palestinians, the United Nations have pushed Israel into a corner.

However, it has never gone this far, and actually created a day to lambast its very creation.

Unfortunately, the metamorphosis is now complete.

The international community, which over 100 years ago, full-throatily embraced the rights of the Jewish People to return to its land, has now embraced the worst form of violent Palestinian Arab rejectionism.

This rejection, while illegal and immoral, wounds the Jewish People.

The Palestinian Arabs have successfully lobbied the international community into its own 100-year war against Jewish self-determination.

It is a war that failed on the battlefield, failed to economically collapse the Jewish State in its infancy through the Arab Boycott, and failed through the scourge of terrorism.

Now, however, it is succeeding just as Israel has become threatened by a coordinated military approach against it, led by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force.

The IRGC has recently been meeting with groups all over the region dedicated to Israel’s destruction, including Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and even some operating in Syria and Iraq.

The goal is a coordinated attack on Israel on multiple fronts.

This multi-pronged attack might not be able to destroy Israel, but it could certainly weaken it in many ways, and potentially cost thousands of lives, if not more.

This is the imminent threat that Israel is facing, a greater threat than it has seen in a few generations.

Meanwhile, rather than come to the aid of the isolated Jewish State, condemning the incessant and daily attacks on it from the north, south and east, the international community is busy providing the legal and moral framework to delegitimize its very existence.

Let there be no doubt, the commemoration of the Nakba is an attack on Israel, and we should be just as concerned as this tactic in the long war against the Jewish State, as the build-up on our borders.

It is all part of the same long war.

Our enemies have tried multiple tactics to defeat us, and while many have failed, they will keep inventing new ones in the hope that the right lethal cocktail will weaken us significantly.

Delegitimizing the mere creation of the State of Israel weakens the resolve of our friends and potential allies to be supportive. This removes a critical layer of protection on the international diplomatic front.

Israel must know how to respond to each and every front against it. It must not accept the new reality, not the one amassing at its borders, nor the one metamorphosizing in New York.

For Israel to survive, endure and flourish, it must be victorious on all fields in the war against it. It must defeat the new front against it coming from New York, from the United Nations.

Our future depends on it.
