SCSU students invite women of all faiths to wear head coverings, celebrate World Hijab Day

The Muslim Student Association at Southern Connecticut State University is inviting women of all faiths to wear hijabs Monday in solidarity with those who suffer from oppression over their outward displays of faith.

To participate in World Hijab Day, women may pick up a hijab from 9 a.m. to noon at the Adanti Student Center, on the plaza level, at the SCSU campus.

After wearing the hijab for several hours, participants are invited to a discussion for sharing reflections on the experience. Those who do not wear a hijab also are welcome to attend the conversation beginning at 3 p.m. in Room 309 of the Adanti Student Center.

World Hijab Day is part of Social Justice Week.
