Muslim convention in Atlanta focusing on peace, building relationships

Thousands of American Muslims met in Atlanta over Christmas weekend discussing peace and spiritual renewal.

The 22nd annual southeast convention, hosted by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the Muslim American Society, was set to end on Sunday at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly at the Galleria.

“This marks the end of a very challenging year for American Muslims,” said Dr. Mohammad Ilyas, president of the ICNA southeast region. “At the convention, we are focusing on peace, spiritual renewal, unity, and building strong relationships with neighbors in 2017.”

The convention began on Friday.
