Students blockade a Paris high school on October 2, 2026, during the nationwide student protests that began September 28. In Beaugency and several other towns, students taking part in the movement were filmed chanting a rap song glorifying jihadist killers Mohamed Merah and Salah Abdeslam, which led Orléans prosecutors to open an investigation for "apology for terrorism." The chants legitimize concerns about Islamist efforts to transform youth culture in France.
