Islamic Center suspends board member after Zelenik accusation

The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro suspended board member Mosaad Rawash late Monday in response to accusations about him from Republican congressional candidate Lou Ann Zelenik, according to the center’s website.

Prior to the suspension, Zelenik’s campaign on Monday accused center board member “Mossad Rowash” of being a supporter of Hamas and “violent Jihad and martyrdom of Palestinians fighting against Israel.” The center later that day issued the following statement:

“The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro was made aware of the allegations against Mr. Mosaad Rawash, a current board member at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro. Mr. Rowash is being suspended pending further investigation about these allegations, a proper action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro as a religious, non political organization does not support any radical views of any kind by any individual or group.

Sincerely,
