Swedish police have asked Interpol for help to find a 14-year-old Swedish girl from Kalmar, in the south, who has been missing for one year, Swedish Radio P4 reports.
Police fear that the girl has been taken out of the country and forced to marry against her will, but her family says she was never forced to leave and that she is alive and well.
The police investigation started only after media reported about the case.
The social services in Kalmar has been widely criticised because they knew that the girl was leaving the country and failed to help the girl even after she had asked to be removed from the family.
According to media reports, they also failed to report the case to police.
