An imam who was instrumental in stirring up anti-Danish sentiment in the aftermath of the Mohammed cartoons calls on Muslims to reject a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine because Jews are “the offspring of apes and pigs”.
For the second time in recent months, a video of a Danish imam’s anti-Semitic sermon is making the rounds online.
In the newest video, which was first posted to the internet in September but came to widespread attention following its reposting by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) on Monday, an imam at an Odense mosque calls Jews “the offspring of apes and pigs”.
Mohammed al-Khaled Samha is an imam at an mosque run by the Islamic Society in Denmark (Islamisk Trossamfund) in the Odense suburb of Vollsmose. He is also among the group of imams who travelled to the Middle East to stir up anti-Danish sentiment in the aftermath of Jyllands-Posten newspaper’s printing of the infamous Mohammed cartoons.
In the sermon, which can be seen below, Samha said that Muslims should reject a two-state solution for peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.
“How can we – or any free Muslim with faith in his heart – accept the division of Palestine between [the Palestinians] and a gang of Jews, the offspring of apes and pigs?” he said in the sermon, according to MEMRI’s translation.
“Palestine has been and will remain the land of Islam. It is the land of the great battle, in which the Muslims will fight the Jews, and the trees and the stones will say: ‘Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah! There is a Jew behind me. Come and kill him’,” Samha says in the video.
Those last remarks could lead to legal trouble, according to Jacob Mchangama of the think-tank Justitia.
“That could be construed as death threats, and that could fall under the racism law. Also the remark about apes and pigs is something that would be viewed relatively harshly,” Mchangama told TV2.
This is the second recent video of a Danish imam’s anti-Semitic remarks to make international headlines.
In July, Abu Bilal Ismail, an imam at Aarhus’s Grimhøjmoskeen mosque, prayed for the death of Jews while preaching at a Berlin mosque.
“Oh Allah, destroy the Zionist Jews. They are no challenge for you. Count them and kill them to the very last one. Don’t spare a single one of them,” Ismail said.
Ismail’s remarks were later officially reported to the police by the Danish Free Press Society.
