After Being Caught Exploiting Houston Flooding, Linda Sarsour Blames ‘White Supremacists’

As people are rallying together to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and the massive flooding that followed, activist Linda Sarsour was caught directing people to give money to a political action committee under the guise of it being “the #Harvey Hurricane Relief Fund.”

In response to the overwhelming backlash, Sarsour has doubled down and blamed “white supremacists” that are “obsessed w/ smearing women of color":

While the tweet she was responding to was incorrect, the Texas Organizing Project does not belong to Sarsour, the vast majority of the criticism she received had to do with how she was directing money to a PAC instead of simply a relief organization.

Her initial response to the criticism was to blame the alt-right for sending out an “email blast":

On the donation page for the Texas Organizing Project, it states the money that is donated will be “vital to ensuring that we have the resources we need to organize and fight for Texans devastated by Hurricane Harvey":

Together we will organize and advocate for our devastated communities, shining a spotlight on inequalities that emerge in the restoration of lives, livelihoods, and homes, amplifying the needs of hard-hit communities, and providing legal assistance for residents wrongfully denied government support.

On its Facebook page, the PAC said it will use the donations to “fight” for “vulnerable communities.”
