Council bosses have imposed a freeze on the appointment of new school governors in the wake of the Trojan Horse controversy.
The city council's children and family services boss, Coun Brigid Jones, said the current appointments system was "not fit for purpose".
She confirmed: "There is a freeze on governor recruitment.
