Summary
Past U.S. administrations have tried to advance the Israeli-Palestinian peace process by “supporting some form of negotiations, or a disengagement or unilateral move [by Israel],” says Middle East Forum director Gregg Roman.
But that hasn’t diminished Palestinian hostility. “Who was the one who said that you give them a finger and they want the whole hand?”
The only way to break the impasse and “reach a peace process is to determine who’s the winner and who’s the loser,” Roman explains. “We are not using the tools that we have to put pressure on the Palestinian Authority.”
