New MLA President Judith Butler Called Hamas Part of “Global Left”

The Modern Language Association (MLA), an academic organization, has on the one hand made it abundantly clear that it’s not interested in advancing any more anti-Semitic BDS resolutions which single out the Jewish State for the latest incarnation of the Nazi boycott and the Arab League boycott. On the other hand, Judith Butler, a BDS obsessive, will become the MLA’s president.

While haters of the Jewish State are resigning from the MLA over the lack of enthusiasm for their anti-Semitic agenda, they do have the bright spot of a Hamas supporter heading the MLA.

Some of those resigning welcomed the recent election of Judith Butler as president of the MLA for 2020-21.

Butler has long been among the most passionate academic supporters of BDS. She serves on the advisory board for the pro-boycott Jewish Voice for Peace—a far-left organization that has feted a convicted Palestinian terrorist—and this week published a blog post at the MLA for Palestine website reiterating her strong support of BDS as a “movement for freedom.”

Butler, a comparative literature professor at University of California-Berkeley, will fill the post of second vice president through January 2019, ascending automatically to the vice presidency and finally presidency of the MLA over the next two years. MLA officers are elected by the organization’s 24,000 members.

That would be awoman who claimed that Islamic terrorists are part of the “global left”.

“I think: Yes, understanding Hamas, Hezbollah as social movements that are progressive, that are on the Left, that are part of a global Left, is extremely important,” Judith Butler had said.

Hamas and Hezbollah are violent Islamic terror groups whose goals are to exterminate Jews and Islamic law. An Islamic law that would leave little room for feminism or homosexuality. But the likes of Butler put their hatred of the Jewish State ahead of their supposed identity politics commitments.

And that is what makes them modern day Nazis.

Butler has a reputation of being hostile to free speech and is expected to advance a stealth pro-BDS agenda.

She declared that she had several ideas she had wanted to share about how to move the BDS agenda forward in the MLA, but felt it was not safe to do so with me in the room. She clearly understood she would need a neutral persona while serving as MLA president in two years but wanted to strategize with her BDS cohort behind the scenes. She would be posturing as principled in office while quietly working to scuttle the 2017 MLA resolution against academic boycotts. She urged people to contact her after the meeting and told them there would likely be funds to bring some of them out to Berkeley to consult with her.

So nothing really changes.

Butler and her cohort engage in conspiracy theories about the Zionists out to sabotage their anti-Semitic agenda. Meanwhile she and her ilk will continue exploiting an academic association to wage war on the Jewish State. Once again we’re seeing the history of the academic collaboration with anti-Semitic from Nazi Germany repeating itself.
