Iranian Authorities Release American Student on $200,000 Bail [Esha Momeni]

The lawyer for an Iranian-American student detained in Tehran says his client has been released on bail.

Mohammad Ali Dadkhah said Tuesday that Esha Momeni was released Monday evening on $200,000 US bail.

The lawyer says the 28-year-old student at California State University plans to leave for the United States as soon as possible.

He says authorities have not imposed a travel ban on Momeni. But, he says, she could still go to trial on unspecified “security charges.”

Momeni’s father has said he put up the deed to the family’s Tehran apartment to cover the bail.

Momeni was detained Oct. 15.
