Democracies Not At Fault In Hamas-Israel Bloodshed [Letter to the Editor; on Muqtedar Khan]

Recently Muqtedar Khan treated readers to another column showing us he continues to be an apologist for the Muslim world.

Khan tells us that he is a “Muslim who speaks his mind.” Of course we are told the problems of the Mideast lie at the front doors of the United States, Britain, Israel and democracies in general, especially India in particular. Good timing there given what happened in India recently.

He tells us that “killing civilians, torturing, kidnapping and bribing have become standard operating procedures of the democracies.” First of all, I reject those out of hand, but for a Muslim to make an accusation like that takes a lot of chutzpa.

His main target is Israel. Concerning the recent fighting in Gaza, in one paragraph he tell us Hamas has “fired over 100 rockets into Israel” and in another paragraph he refers to them as a “few rockets.” One hundred is not a few; Israel has the right to protect its borders and its people. Israel should take whatever steps are necessary to protect same, and until Hamas and its apologists realize that, there will be no peace in that corner of the world and the fault will lie with the Hamas and its friends.
