PHILADELPHIA – August 11, 2023 – The Middle East Forum is pleased to announce the election of Mr. Richard Irving as the new vice chair of the organization’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Irving, a Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist, brings to the table over thirty years of experience in early-stage tech funds, startup development, and successful exits across various global markets. His leadership roles at Brooktree, AMD, and AT&T Bell Labs have given him the opportunity to demonstrate his P&L responsibility skills. Mr. Irving is also the co-founder of Pond Venture Partners, where he managed two top-of-vintage, cross-border, early-stage tech funds, generating over $3 billion from initial startups.

Scott Rosenblum, the chair of the Executive Committee, warmly welcomed Mr. Irving. “Richard’s varied experience, coupled with his keen interest in history and foreign affairs, particularly concerning the Middle East, makes him a valuable addition to our team. We are excited to see the new perspectives and ideas he will bring to our organization.”

Daniel Pipes, MEF president, extended his congratulations. “Richard’s election comes at a key moment for our organization. His unique blend of skills, experience, and passion makes him ideal for the role. I look forward to his contributions and to working with him.”
