Rubin is director of policy analysis and editor of our daily Middle East Forum Observer. He did his Ph.D. in Iranian history, doing his dissertation research in the Islamic Republic. For more than a decade, he was a Persian language analyst for the U.S. Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office, and he taught classes on Iran, its intelligence, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for U.S. Navy SEAL teams. In May 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran officially sanctioned Rubin due to his writing and his Middle East Forum activities.
