Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) said late Tuesday that refugees coming to the United States are not likely to return to their home countries.
“If they’re coming to the United States, chances are they’re not going back. That defies the definition of a refugee,” Walker told Fox News’s “Hannity.”
Walker argued the United States should be working with its Gulf State allies to place refugees.
“A refugee is someone who’s eventually going to go back to their country of origin,” he said.
Walker recently sent a letter to President-elect Donald Trump asking for more control over the refugee vetting process.
Walker was also part of the large group of governors in 2015 that called for a ban on Syrian refugees coming to their states following that year’s terror attacks in Paris.
