Muslims in the U.S. are condemning the actions of the Islamic State in the strongest of terms.
Officials with the Council on American-Islamic Relations say ISIS represents a minority of Muslims.
Basim Elkarra is president of the Sacramento CAIR chapter.
“Muslim scholars from north, east, south, west, you name it, have been condemning this group since its inception.” Elkarra said.
His group is also calling on ISIS to release another journalist being held hostage.
“Muslims, historically, treated prisoners with respect and allowed them to go back to their loved ones,” he said.
He doesn’t believe ISIS will succeed in recruiting Muslims in the U.S. since the group is responsible for killing many of the Islamic faith in the Middle East.
