Dutch police chief Erik Akerboom said on Wednesday that the security of PVV leader Geert Wilders had not been at risk even though an officer involved in his protection is thought to have leaked information to criminals.
'We have no evidence that anyone's security has been compromised,' Akerboom said. The police officer arrested on Monday worked with the police protection squad DBB which is charged with the security of the royal family and others who merit bodyguards.
Akerboom confirmed the police officer is of Moroccan origin but did not comment on claims in the NRC that he had leaked information to a Dutch Moroccan money laundering gang.
