The former president of the CD, Joëlle Milquet, affirmed on Wednesday the necessity of a consensus with the Jewish and Muslim communities in the debate on the prohibition of the slaughter of animals without stunning, on the eve of a meeting in the Walloon parliament.

"There must be a reform that is also based on consultation and consensus with the Jewish and Muslim communities", tweeted the founder of the humanist party.

The Conference of Presidents of the Walloon Parliament must decide on Thursday whether it will allow the Environment Committee to put forward a proposal for a decree introducing a ban on slaughter without stunning next week, with certain adjustments for ritual slaughter.
