A former chief executive of scandal-hit Rotherham council must face questions again on whether he knew child sex abuse investigations were being deliberately obstructed by his staff, it was demanded today.

The spotlight has once again fallen on Ged Fitzgerald, who was allegedly warned his employees were blocking vital probes into sex abuse of teenagers in Rotherham.

Mr Fitzgerald who is currently chief executive of Liverpool council, was in charge in Rotherham for a two-year period in 2001-2003.
