A national campaign to provide accurate information about the Islamic faith hit Jacksonville last month with three billboards offering a website and a phone number for anyone who wants to learn about the religion.
Mohammad Ilyas, regional president of the Islamic Circle of North America, said the group has put up 80 billboards in cities across the country this summer.
In addition to Jacksonville, the Islamic Circle put billboards in San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Phoenix, Denver, Harrisburg, Pa., and Albuquerque, N.M., this month. Previous cities included Philadelphia, Miami, Baltimore, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Sacramento, Calif., and Chicago.
