Inverness-based Florida Gun Supply's owner Andy Hallinan declared his store a "Muslim-free Zone," in a politically charged Facebook video that went viral. But now, he's planning to bend his new rule – at least this Saturday. Hassan Shibly, of Florida's Council on American-Islamic Relations reached out to Hallinan and the two had a long phone conversation. Now, they plan on meeting this weekend. Shibly will take Hallinan's concealed carry gun class and Hallinan will teach him to shoot at a gun range. Then, the pair plan to sit down and go over controversial passages in the Quran.
Hallinan says he's not ready to get rid of his new ban just yet, though. "He's confident he can sway my opinion on Islam and convince me it is not an evil religion based on intolerance and hate," Hallinan said. In the Facebook video, Hallinan sits in front of a back-drop of a Confederate flag. He begins talking about Southern Heritage.
