Muslim leaders must take more responsibility for stopping hardline extremism, said Norway's Labour Party chairman on Tuesday, in the wake of the terror alerts in Norway.

Jonas Gahr Støre believes an important responsibility to curb extremism in Norway rests upon the shoulders of Muslim leaders.

The politician said to the newspaper "Dagsavisen": "Being a big society, we have a common responsibility to prevent [extremism]."
