Bans on extremist preachers are driving them underground, warns director of the Muslim Council for Wales Dr Saleem Kidwai spoke out after pictures emerged of an extremist barbeque held in a Cardiff park
Bans on extremist preachers are driving them underground where it's harder for the authorities to keep checks, the director of the Muslim Council for Wales warned today.
Dr Saleem Kidwai spoke out after three groups, including one that held a barbecue in a Cardiff park earlier this summer, were banned by the Home Office after being accused of being fronts for the extremist organisation al-Muhajiroun.
Dr Kidwai said the bans and an agreement by the city's mosques not to permit those they consider extremists to preach in their buildings has made it harder for the community to keep tabs on them.
