A weekend of events will be held in Orange County to commemorate the second anniversary of the Syrian Revolution.
To kick things off, the Council on American-Islamic Relations Greater Los Angeles Area office in Anaheim (CAIR-LA) is joining the Syrian American Council LA chapter in presenting an educational event from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Garden Grove.
A panel of experts and Syrian human rights activists will include blogger Razan Ghazzawi, who was detained twice since since the start of the revolution due to her work with the Syrian Center for Media Freedom. She used her real name while sending out updates on the bloody struggle in her home country, something that earned her a Front Line Defenders award in 2012. The Syrian American Council LA chapter is the nation's largest Syrian American advocacy group, according to CAIR-LA.
